Michael Rowlands Interviewed at North26

Wealth Financial Managing Director Michael Rowlands joined North’s national Growth Advisers panel in Hobart, sharing the practice’s growth story with peers from across Australia.

On 15 April 2026, Michael Rowlands sat on the Growth Advisers panel at North 26 in Hobart. The half-day event, hosted at Crowne Plaza’s AURA on Liverpool Street, brought together financial advisers and practice owners under the banner of: grow your practice, your clients, and your ambitions.

Moderated by Kristine Goodwin, North’s Director of Growth and Distribution, the session, “How top advisers are scaling success” asked leading advisers from each state how they are structuring, scaling and future-proofing their businesses.

Michael highlighted the twists and turns in his professional career, and how it led him to financial advice.

Michael’s career started with a Caterpillar dealership and a well-known Tasmanian family business in construction and mining. These early years provided a practical framework for his management and a respect for initiative and learning by doing.

“In those early days I was a sponge, learning everything I could,” he said.

Michael’s first experience with financial advice was as a client, before deciding it was a path he’d like to take himself.

He then recounted Wealth Financial’s recent growth, which began with Wealth Financial’s five-year strategic plan, developed with Michael Thrower. This expanded the firm from its Smithton, into Devonport via McCormack Financial Services, (Burnie and a Canberra-region presence through the acquisition of Mancell Financial Group to come only months later). The combined practice now serves close to 2,000 families, with a larger adviser and support team and a clear brief: client-first advice, evidence-based investing, and a business built to last.

Finally, Michael reflected on the importance of people in Wealth Financial.

“Our goal is simply to be GREAT. What continues to drive us forward today is simple: our people. They are our greatest strength, and I’m fortunate to lead a team that brings passion and purpose to everything we do.”

“We set out to do things differently, and we hope our story offered some useful insight.”

North 26 is AMP North’s national roadshow for advice practices that want to scale with intention. The Hobart program sat alongside events in Canberra, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

The event was open to registered financial advisers and business owners.
